Scholarships Supporting the Education of Women and Girls
Experiencing financial hardship?
We offer grants to women from the Top of the South Island.
If you’re in any year of tertiary study or apprenticeship, at any recognised education and training institution in New Zealand, we may be able to help…
In March 2024, the Nelson Soroptimist Education Trust awarded a total of $18 500 amongst 17 women from the Top of the South region in support of their tertiary education. Their range of study courses is wide – Sustainability and Outdoor Education, Clinical psychology, Teaching, Nursing, Maori psychology & psychology and more. Congratulations to all these women and we wish them well with their studies and all the best for their futures.
How we fundraise for education scholarships
We maintain and hire out graduate gowns for NMIT graduation ceremonies, school prize-giving events, awards ceremonies etc.
Need financial help for tertiary study?
If you’re in any year of tertiary study or apprenticeship, at any recognised education and training institution in New Zealand we may be able to help – reach out to us.
We help female students who are New Zealand citizens or permanent residents living in the Top of the South Island (Nelson, Tasman, Marlborough) and facing financial hardship in undertaking, continuing or completing tertiary study, training or apprenticeship.
School leavers, young adults and mature women are welcome to apply.
Join our friendly group; there are many ways you can help us to support women. Volunteer some time to maintain the gowns and hoods in good order, or lend a hand with sorting and packing the gowns ready for collection, or for unpacking and rehanging returned regalia after prize-giving and graduation ceremonies.
